This course explores theories about composing processes and how they affect the ways in which educators teach and assess writing. Topics include writing assignments; responding to written texts; evaluating written performance; teaching rewriting; developing positive attitudes about writing; understanding diverse composing processes; discovering strategies for shaping discourse; teaching grammar and sentence fluency; developing sequenced writing tasks that are connected to reading; and integrating computers and writing to support learning. A servicelearning experience is required. Prerequisite: ENG 102 (with a minimum grade of C).
