2(2-0) Designed to serve a dual function: primarily as an introduction to a specifi c disciplinary area (i.e., arts and humanities: art, history, communications/theatre arts, language and literature, music) and secondarily as general university-level instruction in the methods and practice of critical thinking, analysis and communication. The 30 clock hour course assigns 20 hours to an academic core that is discipline-specifi c and 10 hours to instruction in and application of academic habits and skills. The course is required of all entering freshmen and transfer students with fewer than 20 hours.
