This course is designed for those who are interested in the theoretical conceptions and critiques of power and privilege and their combined effects on sociopolitical and economic life. The course is divided into three parts the first part provides a brief survey of the various theoretical perspectives of inequality and stratification the second examines the complex intersections of race, ethnicity, and class structures in American society and the course concludes with a discussion of gendered effects of migrant work within a global and comparative perspective.
