An exploration of psychotherapy theories and intervention strategies, scientific research on therapy process and outcome, the place of therapy in contemporary society, and a critical evaluation of therapeutic ideals. This course is not a practicum. Taught in the fall semester. Prerequisite: PSY 101 Introductory Psychology and either PSY 203 Personality Psychology or PSY 213 Abnormal Psychology or permission of instructor and junior or senior standing.
