An introductory course in the craft of short story and poetry writing. This course will focus on issues of craft and form: the sentence, the line, character, voice, pointofview, imagery, action, conflict, and resolution. Students will read both published stories and poems and each other's work. The emphasis of the course, however, will be on student writing and will lead to a final portfolio.
