Topics to be emphasized include The Cold War, McCarthyism, the civil rights revolution, the counterculture of the 1960s, the Vietnam War, Watergate, the Reagan years, and the 1990s and beyond. The course also relies on feature films as documents from the appropriate era to illustrate major themes in the nation's development.
