This course is designed to provide a studio experience for investigation of applied anatomy and kinesiology with particular emphasis on movement repatterning. Readings focus on the historical development and practical applications of a variety of somatic practices whose purpose is to change mental and physical action to produce a healthier and more balanced moving body. Studio work emphasizes participation in at least one form of somatic practice and how it enhances study in the traditional dance technique class. Written work investigates the connections between theory, science, and functionality.
