This course examines the science of human motion with particular emphasis on the biomechanics of dance. Course content covers the human skeletal system joint biomechanics relevant to dance muscle origin, insertion, and action and the role gravity plays in muscle action. Analysis of physical structure, function, and dynamic alignment as they relate to performance enhancement and injury prevention are investigated. Prerequisite: BIO 102 Biology of Movement
