This course examines the relative value of both individual and institutional factors in the creation and maintenance of human happiness. Students complete a sociological survey and research project on happiness. Historical and cultural constructions that affect the way we come to see "happiness." The impact of culture, gender, age, income, education, and religion on societies and individuals are assessed. Individual & Society Offered spring in alternate years. 3 credits
