Description:
This non-majors course will review the basic applications of the biological, physical and chemical sciences to the study of forensics. Specific topics include chemical and instrumental analyses of physical evidence, principles of serology and blood analyses, DNA analysis, forensic anthropology, firearms identification and ballistics, drug analysis and toxicology. The course will be taught using an integrated workshop format that includes lecture, laboratory experimentation, and team presentations of crime scene construction and analysis. Three hours lecture, three hours lab. Prerequisite: Successful completion of one college-level science course. Lab fee. Offered spring. 4 credits.
