CHE 316 - Combine & Computational Chem

Institution:
Cabrini University - Closed
Subject:
Chemistry
Description:
This course covers chemical applications used in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with an emphasis on combinatorial chemistry and computational methods. Topics will include innovative approaches used for drug discovery such as aparallel and split pool synthesis. Combinatorial methods of drug discovery will be compared to conventional methods that utilize rational drug design. Applications of molecular modeling to organic and biological systems will be discussed as well as higher levels of calculation including semi-empirical and ab initio methods. Three hours lecture. Prerequisites: CHE 212. Offered as needed. 3 credits
