An introduction to the subject of Community Health with emphasis on developing the fundamental concepts, knowledge, and skills necessary for a career in community health education. Reviews major historical and theoretical foundations, professional competencies, employment areas within community health, major health problems prevalent within the U.S. , and the health program models used by health educators to address these problems. Major emphasis will be placed on the needs assessment process. Co/Prerequisites: HS 1371; HS 2013. Three lecture hours a week. Credit: Three hours.
