Study of the American System of Criminal Justice, with particular focus on the substantive and procedural criminal law of Washington State. The practice of criminal law will be emphasized; definition of crimes, investigation, charging decisions, plea bargaining, case preparation, jury selection, trial practice; the role of police, prosecutors, defense counsel, judges, court personnel and corrections officers.
