Examines a major cultural complex that is defined by the interplay of dominant and subordinate cultural centers. Possible case studies include: Spain and the Americas, Great Britain and India, the United States and the "Third World," Europe and Africa, and contemporary globalization. The material of the course may include discussion of ideology, theory, geography, history, politics, economics, art, poetry, drama, fiction, music, film. Prerequisite: 101 or WRIT 101 or instructor's permission.
