This course will examine one of the most radical and destructive regimes in history, Nazi Germany, and the Holocaust, which that regime perpetrated. The course will focus on the origins of anti-Semitism, the impact of World War I on German society, the abortive experiment in democracy in the 1920s, the emergence of Adolph Hitler and the rise of the Nazi movement to power. The course will also examine Hitlers regime, the road to war and the relationship between total war and genocide.
