Introduction to the literature and thought of the Hebrew Scriptures or Old Testament including scriptures in their original context and as presupposition of subsequent Jewish and Christian life. Study includes the emergence of the Pentateuch from ancient oral and written traditions and its central place in the Hebrew Scriptures. The study will include creation, the covenant, the prophets and the wisdom literature.
