A liberal studies course for non-science majors with a minimum of mathematics. Survey of light, mechanics, electricity, and magnetism and an introduction to atomic, nuclear, and subnuclear physics with emphasis on how the physicist approaches the problem of describing nature. A qualitative, descriptive approach is used. Cannot be taken for credit by students who already have credit in PHY 2048C, PHY 2053C, or equivalent.
