Prerequisite: CHM 1046 and CHM1046L with a grade of "C– " or better. Lecture, three hours; recitation, one hour. Students who complete CHM 1045 or CHM 1050 with a grade of "B" or better and have instructor permission may take this course simultaneously with either CHM 1046 or CHM 1051. The first in a sequence of courses for chemistry majors, premedicine students, biologists or any other majors requiring a good background in organic chemistry, this course covers the fundamentals of structure and chemical behavior of organic molecules. This lecture-based course meets three hours a week.
