Intended to provide the non-science major with an introductory study of chemistry principles without an extensive use of mathematics. This course is designed for students who wish to fulfill the liberal studies science requirement with chemistry and will take no further chemistry courses. This course is not designed as a preparatory course for CHM 1045. Major topics include elementary atomic theory, gas laws, states of matter. Credit not allowed for CHM 1020 after taking CHM 1032, 1045, or equivalent.
