This course focuses on major PreColumbian art traditions, as evidenced in the material culture. Attention is paid to cosmology and the socio-cultural context of art in each society. Topics include classic Maya art and iconography; Mixtec codices; Central Mexican art and iconography. May be repeated, when topics vary, to a maximum of nine semester hours.
