Three hours. Focus on historical and contemporary theories and theorists in the fields of prekindergarten and elementary education. Special attention to models which serve ESOL children. Examination of program models as related to theories of learning, intelligence, and practice. Investigation of professional organizations, journals, research, and activities in the field. Study of state and national codes of professional ethics as well as current issues, trends, federal and state laws, rules and regulations. Application of developmentally appropriate curriculum to promote interactive learning and encourage construction of knowledge , active learning, and allowing children to make meaningful choices. Planning for social, emotional, physical, and cognitive goals for each child while promoting democrative goals.
