Anthropological case studies, including ethnography, film, and theoretical analyses, drawn from Latin America; the possibility of specific gender formations in that geographical region. Relations among men, women, "cochones," "machos," "virgenes," Malinches, "mestizos," "mujeres Mayas," "travestis," revolutionaries, gringos and gringas, throughout the whole continent of the Americas. How gender and sexuality affect and are affected by other forms of identification such as race and ethnicity, class, colonialism, nationalism, and globalization. The role of stereotypes.
