Fundamentals of forest fire management, entomology and plant pathology (including air pollution and chemical damage) related to understanding their impacts on forest productivity and forest management. Regional case examples and complexes are evaluated in terms of pest-population, forest-stand dynamics; economic and societal constraints; treatment strategies; monitoring systems; and benefit-cost analysis. Approach seeks to develop predictive capabilities in long range pest management and decision making. Field oriented lab focuses on diagnostics and impact analysis. Instructor: Staff
