Pharmacology introduces the student to the basics of medication, medication administration, trade and generic names of common prescriptive and over-thecounter medications. Medication classification, routes of administration, dosages, therapeutic effects, side effects, contraindications, scheduled drugs, and implications for the Medical Assistant are covered to ensure that medications are administered in a safe manner and documented in the patient's record accurately.
