The prerequisite for attending this two-week course is satisfactory completion of the qualifications course specified in the Firearms Instructor Academy announcement. This instructor-level course requires individuals to be competent and above-average shooters at the start of the course. Firearms instructors' responsibilities include presenting training for "real world" lethal-force situations. Participantswill be provided with the principles, knowledge, and skills to adapt and deliver firearms training courses that meet Department of Corrections requirements and the needs of the correctional environment.
