This course will systematically introduce the student to the study of Spanish phonology. Phonological theories applied to Spanish will be reviewed. The formal sound system of Spanish will be analyzed based on articulatory and acoustic features. Stress rhythm and international patterns will be highlighted along with dialectal variations. Practice in corrective phonetics will be provided. Prerequisite: SPA 2312 or consent of the instructor.
