This course will survey the development of Hispanic literature in English from its inception to the contemporary era. Special emphasis will be placed on the literature, especially the short story, of the twentieth century. Particular literary movements and periods germane to the Hispanic experience will be highlighted. Elements of literary criticism and the vocabulary of literary analysis will be introduced. No knowledge of Spanish is required. This course is taught in English. Prerequisites: ENG 2301 and ENG 2302.
