This course focuses on the policy arena of urban politics. The course will also trace the evolution and current status of cities. Specific problems of the cities, which the course will address, are: the political content and structure of urban government; the social, economic context in which local policies are made; the problems of race and poverty; and the problems of taxation and spending. Prerequisites: POS 2311 and POS 2316.
