This course includes a review of anatomical and mechanical concepts in reference to orthotics and prosthetics. Precautions and contraindications of orthotics and prosthetics will be explained along with the rationale for using an orthotic or prosthetic device. Students will learn to assess need for an orthotic or prosthetic device and will fabricate static and dynamic splints. (One lecture and three laboratory hours per week.) Prerequisite: OCC 3301, OCC 3305 and PHT 3501.
