This course addresses the structure and functionality of the Internet and examines the software that exploits it. Topics include mark up languages, Web tools, static dynamic and active Web pages, multimedia in Web applications, communication protocols, client-server computing, scripting, group communication support, ecommerce, and security. Topics also include systems for organizing and coordinating work at different sites that exploit the Internet, and architectures to exploit the distributed computational power offered by the Internet. Prerequisites: Admission to the Certificate Program and CSC 3361. (Cross-listed with CSC 3332).
