This laboratory course is designed to provide students the basic skills needed to function at an above-entry level in an animal cell tissue culture laboratory. The preparation of required tissue culture media and solutions are reviewed. Bench training in maintaining animal cells in culture is emphasized. The theory of preparing B cell hybridomas as well as the techniques used to test for monoclonal antibody production are covered. (2 two-hour laboratory periods per week.) Prerequisites: BIO 1401, CHE 2111, and CHE 2311 for traditional students. Permission of the Chairperson for non-traditional students.
