Students study works by both well-known composers such as Schubert, Brahms, and Wagner, and lesser known ones such as Balakirev, Field, and Clara Schumann. Selected topics for discussion include the impact of Beethoven, the lied, keyboard works, symphonic traditions, and opera. 3 semester hours
