The course examines concepts of performance and staging and looks at the plays within their social and historical contexts. Playwrights covered include Shaw, Synge, Coward, Osborne, Delaney, Beckett, Pinter, Stoppard, Churchill, and others. Satisfies one post-1800 requirement for the English major. 3 semester hours
