This course teaches the goals, objectives, and methods of communication research. The relationship between theory and research is stressed. The course provides both a primer on designing, writing, and presenting primary communication research, as well as an overview of interpreting and evaluating research conducted by others. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods are introduced, including experiments, surveys, content analyses, focus groups, interviews, and participant observation. Prerequisite: PSY 385. 3 semester hours
