Dr. Greason An introduction to the African American communities in the Western Hemisphere, particularly North America, from 1528-1790. Topics to be covered may include, among others, early modern West Africa, the transatlantic slave trade, indentured servitude, various forms of chattel slavery, maroon communities, the development of race, gender in the British North American colonies, the American Revolution, and the development of the American constitution.
