Dr. Clark An historical overview of the position of women in East Asian culture from the early modern era to the recent past. Attention will be devoted to topics such as marriage, motherhood, family structure, economic opportunity, women's writing, women and religion, etc. In addition to contemporary monographs, readings may include novels, plays, poetry, as well as movies.
