Prerequisite: PLS 212 or consent of instructor. Introduction to the origin and development of political theory from the 5th Century B.C. through the medieval era. Emphasis will be placed on the political ideas of Plato, Aristotle, the Epicureans, the Stoics, Cicero, Augustine, medieval philosophers, and Aquinas in order to discover the recurring themes of political inquiry.
