Insight into the use of music in the cinema and how music is presented in various forms within the film genre; a look at music in film from a global perspective to understand how music in film in affected by certain regions of the U.S., specifically the Southern region. This course traces film music from its operatic roots to present-day filmmaking by looking at aspects of the orchestral score, the soundtrack, and the movie musical.
