An in-depth exploration of various commercial writing styles and instrumentations, focusing on Pop, Latin and Jazz. The class will analyze the writing styles of many of the most prolific and successful Big Band Arrangers of the 20th century. Participants will be able to write music for any and all types of commercial applications, and musical styles for all levels of musicians. Prerequisite: MU 4344 or permission from instructor.
