Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Education Program or written permission of the Dean, College of Education. Concurrent enrollment in EDEC 30213, EDEC 30223, EDEC 30233. Block focuses on the study of the nature of literacy and second language learning processes and the relationship among these processes, young children, teachers, curriculum, and instruction. Emphasis is given to the guidance of young a children as they progress through the continuum of language and literacy abilities from preschool through grade four. Block components: EDEC 30213 Promoting Language and Literacy: Early Literacy, EDEC 30223 Promoting Language and Literacy: Elementary, EDEC 30233 Promoting Language and Literacy: ESL.
