A survey of electronic music with an emphasis on listening, aesthetic and philosophical concerns, necessary terminology, and composition/arranging for synthesizer. Various types of synthesis will be explored as well as MIDI systems and MIDI. Sequencing and transcription will be done using a synthesizer, drum machine, and comparable equipment in conjunction with a computer and selected software programs. Credit, 3 semester hours. PREREQ: Permission of instructor required.
