Aspects of Shamanism and traditional medicine of interest to the generalist as well as the student of anthropology. Themes include: a) Shamanic traditions in many contemporary societies and cultures, b) the relationship between these and the "New Age" or "Neo-Shamanicvariants which have been gaining popularity in the U.S. and Western Europe since the early 1970s and c) the relationship between these healing traditions and bio-medical and psychotherapeutic paradigms.
