Offerings This course focuses on the philosophy and research of how exercise, fitness, play, games and sport evolved in American culture. Using several interpretive frameworks, the course explores topics such as the mind/body relationship, family and peer influences, and the impact of gender, race, religion, subcultures, social movements, urbanization, technology and socioeconomics on the way contemporary society views health and participates in physical activity.
