(Formerly PROT 1310) This course offers instruction in the basic principles of physics and their application to process facilities. Topics include units of measurement; gas laws; thermodynamics; temperature; pressure; and the properties of solids, liquids, and gases, and how these properties relate to the operation of process equipment. Students define terms and principles of applied physics; solve problems using basic laws of physics; and apply principles of physics to the operation of plant equipment. Prerequisite: MATH 1333.
