(Formerly ENGL 2326) This course offers opportunities for discussing and reading works by major American writers from the Realistic/Naturalistic period to the present, making an effort to identify those themes and literary forms which are characteristic of the American heritage. Students complete a variety of writing assignments including essay examinations, short critical compositions, and investigative papers. Prerequisite: ENGL 1302. (3:3-0)
