(Formerly ENGL 1313) This course is designed for students who have strong backgrounds in composition and who make high scores on an English placement test. Assignments in the course emphasize reading and writing skills, argumentation, the informal essay, and the research paper. Prerequisites: Writing level 9 and recommendation of department chair. A student may not receive credit for both ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1303. (3:3-0)
