(Formerly COSM 1424, COSM 1504) This is an overview of the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for the field of nail technology. Topics include bacteriology, sanitation, safety, orientation, preparation, and professional practices. Emphasis will be directed toward Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, department and campus rules and regulations, hand and arm massage, and basic manicure procedures. Prerequisite: and co-requisite: Reading level 4 and courses taken in level sequence order or department chair approval. 144 contact hours per semester. (3:1-8)
