(2-6) 4 hours Instruction in the techniques and methods of oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding and cutting to produce metal sculptures. Skill development in welding, brazing, and fi nishing techniques. Topics address basic shop ethics, artistic styles, and professionalism. Students will acquire and demonstrate skills using cold and hot forming methods, oxy-acetylene cutting, welding and brazing, and basic arc welding processes. Students will be responsible for creating several metal sculptures using various welding procedures. This course may be substituted for a required welding course or a humanities course at the discretion of the department chair. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11) Prerequisite: Consent of department chair.
