3 hours Provides instruction in the historical and philosophical basis of physical and health education and recreation. Emphasis is placed on understanding the foundations and objectives of curricula development; identifying activities and skills relevant to program development in physical and health education and recreation; demonstrating leadership skills in group discussions and activities pertinent to organization of educational principles of program development consistent with the goal of new curricula design, sociological and biological aspects of physical and health education and recreation; and reinforcing positive personal characteristics consistent with ethical and social aspects of physical and health education and recreation. (SCANS 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10) Prerequisite: None.
