(5-0) 5 hours An introduction to the general principles of anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and microbiology that are necessary for understanding body processes and basic principles underlying health promotion and therapeutic interventions. The student will identify and describe major body structures and functions which comprise the major body systems; recognize and describe the relationship of nutrition to health and illness across the life span; identify microorganisms as causative agents in disease; and identify common causes for disease, modes of transmission, and methods of prevention and control. (SCANS 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9) Prerequisite: Program admission.
